Neonatology deals with the prevention, and care of problems originating in the foetal, intrapartum, or neonatal periods. Our neonatologists at KD Blossom, extend their care by providing information and support to the families of neonates and focus towards providing a range of services for different kinds of illnesses which a newborn may suffer from.

Our experienced team of neonatologists in Kusum Dhirajlal Hospital is available round the clock, and provides treatment and support to critically ill premature and full-term babies also. We are committed to high-quality, family-centered care as we understand the value of the health of your baby, and know how challenging and scary the health issues of your newborn can be for you. The common issues for which NICU care might be needed are premature birth, birth asphyxia, pulmonary hypoplasia, low birth weight, sepsis, congenital malformations etc.

NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (NICU)

KD Hopital is having "state of the art" level III-B NICU set up, with attached perinatal centre including foetal medicine & high risk obstetrics & IVF under one roof.

Antenatal Counselling and Intervention:

For high risk pregnancies and expected premature babies, prior in-detail counselling by Neonatal Intensivist for planning medical and surgical care for neonates is provided at Kusum Dhirajlal Hospital.

Our facilities at NICU include

  • In-utero transfer for high risk obstetric patients

  • 24x7 consultant presence on site

  • Conventional ventilator, high frequency ventilators, and inhaled nitric oxide therapy

  • Non-invasive ventilator facilities, like Bubble - CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), Airvo 2

  • Central O2, compressed air system, & central suction system

  • Continuous haemodynamic monitoring; multipara monitor

  • In house arterial-blood gas (ABG), lab, and radiological facilities

Point of Care

  • Dedicated neonatal probes for echocardiography (ECHO) & neurosonogram of newborn babies

  • Neonatal cooling facility (Meera cradle) for newborns with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE)

  • Bedside electroencephalogram (EEG) facility

  • Laminar flow facilities for total parenteral nutrition (TPN) and intravenous (IV) preparation
